Philosophy/Approach

John’s key focus is with individuals who are highly motivated to change the way they are managing their emotional and physical health. He approaches counseling through cognitive and behavioral therapies and when appropriate uses additional statagies such as guided imagery, hypnosis, EMDR, biofeedback and specific homework assignments to assist individuals in learning more effective ways to improve their health and wellbeing.

Through empathetic and gentle exploration coupled with suggestions for strategic action, John supports clients in strengthening their emotional and physical resiliency. He believes resilient health involves maintaining a dynamic balance between maximizing what can be changed, while also developing acceptance and effective coping strategies for what can’t be changed.
